Campaigns often require students to work 10 to 20 to 30+ hours/week without pay; students with classes to take and bills to pay often cannot afford to work this many hours unpaid.
The CDNY Fellows program will provide students with stipends for unpaid campaign work, knocking down economic barriers to political participation. CDNY Fellows will help:
Ensure students, regardless of their socioeconomic status, can get involved with campaigns
Diversify campaign staffs, so being wealthy is not a prerequisite to working on a campaign
Increase political participation among students by knocking down economic barriers
