Fordham College Democrats, College Democrats of New York, and College Democrats of America Endorse Three Candidates for NYC Mayor
NEW YORK CITY, NY — Today, Fordham College Democrats, College Democrats of New York (CDNY), and College Democrats of America (CDA) have officially endorsed three candidates for New York City Mayor: Brad Lander, Jessica Ramos, and Zohran Mamdani. These endorsements signal a powerful shift in momentum as young Democrats rally behind candidates who are unapologetically progressive and deeply committed to building a more just, equitable, and sustainable city. As the June mayoral election approaches, student leaders are demanding bold policies and fresh energy to shape the future of New York City.
“Young people are the future of our city, our country, and our planet,” said Brad Lander. “Especially at a time when our fundamental rights are under attack from the Trump Administration, I’m honored that the College Democrats of New York have endorsed me as the candidate to lead New York City out of our housing, affordability, and public safety crisis and welcome in a new era of growth and abundance for our next generations.”
"The youth vote is the deciding margin in our most important elections, and that will certainly be the case when we elect a new Mayor this June,” said Jessica Ramos. “I'm incredibly grateful to the College Democrats for their endorsement and for believing in our vision for a youth jobs guarantee, union climate economy, and more prosperous New York City. Young people are leading the fight for climate justice, workers’ rights, and a more inclusive democracy, and I’m proud to stand with them as we build a city that works for everyone. Let's get to work!"
“Young people across our city are calling out for a new generation of leadership unafraid to take on Trump’s cruelty and fight for a more affordable New York. That’s why I’m running for Mayor, so young people can once again plant roots in a city they are increasingly being priced out of. I’m proud to have the College Democrats’ endorsement in this race," said Zohran Mamdani. "Together, we’ll build a New York where housing is affordable, fundamental rights are protected, and opportunities to succeed are available to all, not just a select few.”
Daniel Sponseller, President of the Fordham College Democrats, emphasized the importance of backing progressive candidates in this election. “New York City is facing overlapping crises rooted in unaffordability, and Zohran Mamdani offers bold, practical solutions — from freezing rent on stabilized apartments to building 200,000 affordable housing units and launching city-owned grocery stores. Brad Lander brings a comprehensive plan to confront the housing crisis, expand access to universal pre-K, 3K, after-school programs, and childcare, and lead the city toward a net-zero carbon future by 2040. His agenda addresses both the immediate and long-term needs of working families. Jessica Ramos reimagines public safety with a proactive approach centered on accountability, prevention, and support for victims. Her housing and public health proposals emphasize sustainability and equity, ensuring New Yorkers are not only safe and housed but genuinely supported. Together, these candidates embody the bold, compassionate leadership our city needs for a just and livable future.”
“The moment we’re in demands bold, visionary leadership rooted in the will of the people — not billionaire donors or the broken status quo,” said Alexander Fisher, President of the College Democrats of New York. “New Yorkers are calling for leaders who will stand firm against authoritarian overreach and push back on the growing influence of corporate power in our politics. Zohran Mamdani, Jessica Ramos, and Brad Lander are progressive champions who have spent their careers delivering real change for their communities. Their campaigns represent hopeful, transformative paths forward for a city facing urgent challenges. On behalf of our organization, I’m proud to endorse these candidates and am inspired by the ambitious, forward-looking vision they bring to the future of New York City.”
“College Democrats stand united in fighting for a stronger New York City for all, and that is not possible with Eric Adams or Andrew Cuomo in power,” said Cameron Landin, Political Director of CDA.
With these endorsements, the College Democrats are sending a clear message: the next chapter of New York City must be written by leaders who are unafraid to challenge entrenched power and who center justice, equity, and opportunity in all they do. As the June primary approaches, young voters are mobilizing in unprecedented numbers to demand a city that works for everyone — not just the wealthy and well-connected. The campaigns of Brad Lander, Jessica Ramos, and Zohran Mamdani reflect that vision, and the College Democrats are proud to stand with them in the fight for a better future.
