Response to U.S. Attorney General’s Office Bringing Charges Against New York State Government Officials

CDNY unequivocally condemns Attorney General Pam Bondi’s lawsuit against the State of New York and our Governor, Attorney General, and DMV Commissioner. This legal attack is a blatant attempt to undermine our state’s right to protect and support its residents, regardless of immigration status. New York’s policies reflect our commitment to fairness, safety, and human dignity—values that the federal government should be upholding, not attacking.

We stand in solidarity with undocumented New Yorkers across our state and members of our government who are now fighting this politically motivated assault on our state’s sovereignty.

This lawsuit is yet another in a string of attempts from the Trump Administration to crush opposition and policies that don’t align with his far-right, fascist agenda. It continues a streak of shameless demonization & persecution of minorities that has come to define the second Trump Administration.

New York will always welcome immigrants with open arms. It is who we are.

Donald Trump is a disgrace to New York and everything our state stands for.

We applaud New York State Attorney General Letitia James for her tireless efforts to bring Donald Trump to justice over the last several years, and proudly stand alongside her and our government in protecting the rights of ALL New Yorkers to drive, work, and live in our state.
