Eric Adams Must Go Now: Statement on D.O.J. Ordering Mayor Adams’ Corruption Charges Dropped

The time has come for New York City Mayor Eric Adams to be removed from office.

No one is above the law in the United States of America. The Department of Justice’s decision to drop charges against Adams is shameless, baseless, and corrupt.

This order seeks to dismiss all federal charges against Adams. It is an unprecedented and ethically problematic decision, as Adams is alleged to have accepted over $100,000 in illegal donations from Turkish citizens and government officials in a long-running self-enrichment scheme—all while New Yorkers face worsening conditions across the city.

This order is just a glimpse into Donald Trump’s ‘Golden Age of Corruption,’ where loyalty to the president, not the people, reigns supreme.

Both Republican and Democratic DOJ attorneys from NYC offices have resigned in protest of this attempted betrayal of our Constitution and the rule of law.

To make matters worse, Mayor Adams appeared on Fox and Friends the following morning with Border Czar Tom Homan, where he pledged to comply with federal ICE orders to assist with the deportation of undocumented New Yorkers— directly defying his own city’s Sanctuary Policies.

Tom Homan then strongly implied that Adams had no choice but to comply.  “If he doesn’t come through,” stated Homan, sitting beside Adams, “we’ll be back in New York City... I’ll be in his office... saying ‘where the hell is the agreement we came to?’”

In a further break from New York’s Sanctuary protections, Adams also intends to allow ICE to operate at the notorious Rikers Island prison, reversing policies that have been in place since 2015.

Four Deputy Mayors have now resigned in light of these developments.

Mayor Adams appears to be compromised by the Trump Administration, significantly damaging his credibility. New Yorkers deserve a responsible mayor who is capable of serving them with dignity, respect, and progressive, forward-thinking ideas—not someone who bends the knee to save himself and capitulates to xenophobia, blackmail, and hate.

Governor Hochul has the power and responsibility to end this madness. She must remove Eric Adams from office immediately. His mayorship is an emergency for our city.
